September – wrapped up!

Apparently, September has passed. I feel I start every monthly wrap up this way, but I’m going to say what I keep saying; 2016 is going fast, way, way, too fast.

I genuinely can’t believe it. Now we’re in October and I’m 30 odd days closer to being 24, that is not a comforting thought. I’m a Halloween baby; I think it’s because of this it’s ingrained in me to hate dress-up. But hey-ho!

Things actually happened in September that I can update you all on, I actually read books and socialising. I call that one successful month.

I bought a lot of books, charity shops in my area are bountiful and always have hidden gems in them just waiting for me to pluck them off the shelves! I went hunting around charity shops twice this month and only bought three books from Waterstones (I couldn’t wait, they had just been released and I needed them).
Patrick Ness – A Monster Calls, Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff – Illuminae, Gillian Flynn – Dark Places, Anne Frank – Diary of a Young Girl, Maggie Stiefvater – Lament, Pierce Brown – Red Rising, Lauren Kate – Passion, Josephine Angelini – Witch’s Pyre, Sarah J. Maas – Empire Of Storms, Leigh Bardugo – Crooked Kingdom.
I told you, such wonders just awaiting my arrival. I was so lucky this month, and I’m definitely counting this as my best charity shop haul! The only three I bought new are the obvious, newly released ones; Empire Of Storms, Witch’s Pyre and Crooked Kingdom. There was no way I waiting for them, I’ve already waited long enough thank you.

I cannot wait to dig into them, some of them such as Illuminae and A Monster Calls have been raved about by people all over various blogs and bookstagrams. Red Rising was recommended to me by a friend who has just finished the sequel.
I read a total of 4 books. It’s not a great total, but it’s at least double my total of August!
Nevernight – Jay Kristoff, Empire Of Storms – Sarah J. Maas, The Crown’s Game – Evelyn Skye, Witch’s Pyre – Josephine Angelini.
I thoroughly enjoyed each of these books – it was definitely a good month for reading, Nevernight would have to be my favourite of the month (and potentially the year so far), I truly fell in love with that book!

I went to my first ever wedding, my boyfriends older brother tied the knot as I got a second row seat! It was beautiful, and the reception was ridiculously fun! His family could not have been more involving and welcoming and we all danced (and drank) the night away. It was a wondrous affair, even if I wore a dress that was far too feminine for my liking and shoes that were labelled as ‘death trap shoes’.

I took the plunge and got a brand spanking new laptop that doesn’t work at the pace of a snail. I loved my old Macbook, and it got a whole lot of use. But, all of that has caught up with the old fella, and it can longer run like it used too.
I am now the proud owner of a Lenovo Yoga, I didn’t need such a pricey, high end laptop this time as I bought my Macbook for college and now in full-time employment; the laptops main use is for blogging! It’s a lightweight, lovely sleek design and it also folds into a tablet for comfy sofa / bed use. I’m a big big fan!

Lastly, my lovely, understanding boyfriend transformed our spare room into a sort of office / library space. It has been a dream to have such a space for such a long time and bare and basic as it may be right – this is a definitely an ‘it’s the thought that counts’ moment! Next, we’re going to buy a big comfy chair and some frames to truly make this a comfy, snuggly little haven.

Overall, September was a pretty excellent month, and my 24th birthday is now only a few weeks away! Exciting!
